It was established in 2007 by a group of interested individuals, including Faustin Ntala, a professional educator who is a native of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Waza Alliance for Quality Education is dedicated to enhancing the lives of children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo by improving the quality of their education.
Access to a quality education is the key to greatly enhancing the quality of life for children living in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In 2007, the Waza Alliance for Quality Education (Waza Alliance) set out on a vision to ensure that quality education be available to every child in sub-Saharan Africa, beginning with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, so that he/she has the opportunity to reach his or her potential.
